Genesis of the project :
The creation of “De La Fontaine” was born of a cultural partnership with the French May Arts Festival in Hong Kong to celebrate its 30th anniversary.
Backed by the financial support of the Hong Kong Jockey Club, the company embarked on a contemporary rewriting of the famous author’s fables through the art of giant puppetry, mask theater and aerial dance. A theater of images both funny and poetic, sensitive and excessive.
Presented from May 6 to 14, 2023 at the Taï Kwun Cultural Center in Hong Kong, the show was a resounding success, opening another partnership with the Institut Français de Chine the following year. As a result, “De la Fontaine” traveled from the south to the north of China in 2024, meeting audiences in Changsha, Wuhan and Harbin.
